Since I finally was able to get my computer fixed, I’m back talking about things LOTRO related. I’d say I have show notes for this episode, but in reality it is just me chatting about my time post Update 6. I’m pretty much solely on my Warden and I talk about my impressions so far with the class.
I also tease a couple of upcoming interviews, the first of which should be posted in the next day or so with the second probably recording next week due to scheduling conflicts.
As always, let me know if you have suggestions or comments on future episodes.
I’ve been a bit quiet and occupied lately, but I did have a chance not too long ago to chat with Shipwreck on the Beneath Your Feet Podcast. He has a different spin on things as each episode focuses on another area of the game discussing the lore, backstory, and overall setting. When he approached me about recording, I figured I’d hop on and talk about everyone’s favorite Middle-Earth resort location – Angmar! While I know many don’t like the area, for me it still holds lots of fond memories and is definitely someplace you should at least visit – even if you decide to skip it while leveling and just go back at a higher level.
Take a listen as Shipwreck and I try our best to boost the Aughaire travel agency’s business
I’ve been pretty quiet lately and that’s mainly due to a lack of playing time with real life and a packed holiday schedule. But the end of the year usually is a pretty quiet time anyway, so there really wasn’t all that much to write about anyway
I just wanted to toss out a quick post letting folks know what I have in store to kick off the new year:
- Quick LOTRO Lua fix I stumbled upon
- Hint – it pertains to TonicBars and Update 5
- Re-cap of the little gaming I’ve been doing including LOTRO and Civilization 5.
- Look back at 2011 and looking forward to MMO land in 2012
- I have 3 episodes to finish editing of The Secret War Podcast, including an interview with Funcom Community Manager Morteia
- Getting Sally Forth back on track with probably a look back and look forward episode. Also, hopefully I’ll get a chance to chat with Turbine here soon.
- Also getting back in a normal schedule with LOTRO Reporter
- Hopefully I’ll also be getting a new computer here sometime soon which should help remedy some of my frustrations of late.
Other then that, here’s looking forward to a fun filled 2012!
I’ve had a couple questions via email and twitter about this interview, so I wanted to put up a quick post on what happened. I compiled my list of questions with those from the various places I posted about it and then more or less filtered out the ones I knew other sites were going to be covering. Pretty much I tried to go in a different direction and not ask the same things everyone else was, just like my previous interview. However, as it turns out all the things I wanted to talk about aren’t what Turbine is interested in talking about at this time.
Now don’t fret that you won’t be able to hear anything on what’s coming as I did team up with Chris to talk with Aaron “Rowan” Campbell for the interview we did over on LOTRO Reporter if you want to check that out.
I’ll keep folks updated on when Turbine wants to chat about what all I (and you guys) was (were) interested in.
While not 100% the issue of why I’ve been quiet lately, certainly Thanksgiving has been a pretty big part of it. Probably my favorite food holiday, with people coming over this year, we had to do a little more prep work to get ready for things. Combine that with a needed time of relaxation and a couple things I’ll get to, I haven’t had the time or desire to write much.
Before I get into what else has been going on, I do have episodes recorded that I still need to get edited for both of my podcasts. I also will be recording new episodes this week, as well as doing interviews with the developers of both. So there should be a few new episodes coming out soon
One of the biggest issues I’ve been running into lately that I’m really struggling with is my computer is just really not working well at all. I’m having pretty frequent times of frame rates measured in seconds per frame (even at the lowest quality), which is never a good metric. Needless to say, I’m actively looking around for decent priced smaller (~15”) laptops if anyone has any good suggestions or recommendations.
I also did get a chance this weekend to check out The Old Republic, and it did exceed my expectations but also confirmed my plan for this game. I played quite a bit (close to 10 hours I’d say) even with times of horrible performance and hit level 13 before the end of the event as well as checking out a couple other classes. I really did enjoy the stories and appreciated how different the classes not only played but how their stories varied. However, for me I’m still in a position that LOTRO is my main game (until April, maybe) and as such will be looking at SWTOR as potential after the New Year single player game. Looking at it that way will help better curb many of my issues and concerns with the game, while still enjoying it and being in a better place in case Bioware does in fact prove me wrong.
I will do a longer post on my thoughts for SWTOR but I’m not going to focus on it too much as many are covering it much better then me.
